Parishioners from Ss Alban & Stephen at Celebrate 2006, during Easter week, in Ilfracombe, Devon

The theme of this year's conference was "He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and with Fire", and we heard talks from Charles Whitehead, Sr Nancy Keller, David Wells (well know for his real-life attitude to his faith), Bishop Christopher Budd (Plymouth), Bishop Ambrose Griffiths (Hexham and Newcastle, retired).

A total of over 60 people went this year from our parish, and as well as spending time in the talks, worship sessions, masses and other organised events, we spent much time wituh each other as friends

Our young people had a great time too - for those aged 16 and over, they spent much of their day in their own "offshoot" of the conference, known as Joel's Bar - with over 150 others from all over the country (and a few from beyond!!) discussing their faith, life, morality, ethics, as well as at Mass, in praise/worship, and in reconciliation.

Sadly, one week passes too quickly, but filled with the Fire of the Holy Spirit, we are all renewed and energised with His love to return to our homes, schoosl and workplaces.

Here are just a few pictures from the week

What is Celebrate?
CELEBRATE is a Holiday Conference for Christians of all ages, organised by a team run from Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

Its vision is to offer a spring event which combines good Christian teaching and celebration,
with an opportunity to relax and enjoy a short break after the winter!

With over 1200 people attending (over half of which are under the age of 21!!!), the format is very relaxed, with a programme of worship, music, mime, drama, talks, workshops, seminars, masses, and much more. For children between 3 and 16, they spend time in  steams/groups specific to their age.

For under 3s there's a creche.

For over 16s there's Joel's Bar, lead by Young adults generally in their 20s.
