On 9th April 2005, the Impact Group set up across the two parishes of Ss Alban & Stephen and St Barts put on a Quiz Night in the Parish Hall - but this was a Quiz Night with a difference!!!
Firstly, with fourteen teams whose names
ranged from Genesis & Exodus, through some of the prophets and up to
Acts and Ephesians - with between six and eight members per team, it was
a bumper turnout of over 120 people!
| What is Impact?
Impact is a program for 14 to 17 year olds, which brings young people together in groups to plan action.
It's a worldwide organisation, run by young people for young people
It's based around small groups which form a large network
to meet at a local level in parishes and schools
to reflect and plan action, on a local or national level....even across the world. |
Secondly, the entire evening was organised
by the nine strong Impact Group themselves... and this means everything, especially preparation of the taxing, but fun questions.
In total, £600 was raised through tickets and the raffle which the group are sending to Cafod to be spent on Health and Education in Uganda.
The Impact group has only been running since last Summer, and this is their
first event, so we we were especially delighted to have Barry Sullivan, Duncan Whelan and others from the YCW London team to join us for the evening .. and their team didn't too badly either!!!
