Romans FC
Our parish football team
Christian Cup Winners, 2007
St
Albans Romans, the Parish football team set up with St Bart’s, were victorious
in the final of the National Christian Football Cup last Saturday. They defeated
a team from Doncaster Evangelical Churches by 4-0, although the game was
much closer than the score-line suggests.
Several of the team are moving away so if anyone is interested in joining
the team for next season please contact Richard Exact on 07976 252309.

The venue....
The 2007 National Christian Cup Final was held at Nene Park Stadium, the
home of Rushden & Diamonds Football Club, for the second year running
- such a prestigious venue! This wonderfully continues
the trend of holding the Final at Professional grounds over the last 7 seasons,
the previous being Liverpool FC, Northampton Town FC and Macclesfield Town
FC!!
Who was there?
We are also very pleased to announce that the Guests of Honour for the Cup
Final were Derek Jefferson, the ex-pro player with Ipswich Town and Wolverhampton
Wanderers, the Rushden & Diamonds Chaplain, Canon Roger Knight and the
Managing Director of current Sponsors Verit Media, Chris Powell. The match
was refereed by Dermot Gallagher, the Premiership Referee.

place on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm for training at
St Albans Rugby Club and 10.30 on Saturday mornings to play matches. Our home ground is Boggymead Springs.
We welcome new players and are looking to expand to a second team.
New players should be willing to train regularly and play on Saturdays.
