Jerry Daly - 40 years in St Albans, 1971 - 2011
On Saturday 25th June 2011, the
6pm Mass turned into a special surprise for Fr. Jerry as
the Parish marked forty years since his first arrival in St Albans.
The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Jerry with a ‘surprise con-celebration’ with
Fr Charles. Des Coyle, Peter and Damian Fahy and Caroline and Isobel Taylor
served at the altar. Fr. Charles expressed the Parish’s wishes to thank Fr.
Jerry and ask for God’s blessings for him.
The Sunday evening folk group led the impromptu singing. A gift was presented
to Fr Jerry by Michael and Maureen Ringham and a cheque from the Missionaries
of the Sacred Heart was presented by Mary Corbett and from the Parish community
by Pat O’Brien.
Mass was followed by a party in the Parish Hall. Fr. Jerry
thanks all who organised the surprise and for all the presents and cards
of best wishes. ‘A special thank you to Damian and Peter Fahy for the music
at the party.’
