Ss Alban and Stephen

Sunday Mass is celebrated not only in the Church, but also in our two Mass Centres - Marshalswick (St John Fisher School) and Maryland (The Convent).

Marshalswick Mass Centre

The Marshalswick Mass Centre is
a healthy and active community based at St. John Fisher School.

The focus of the Mass Centre is our celebration of Holy Mass each Sunday morning at 9 a.m.

The Marshalswick Mass Centre is at

   St John Fisher School
   Hazelemere Road,
   St Albans   AL4 9RW

Our community is enriched by our liturgy, and with some 80+ members of our community contributing to liturgy in one way or another, our liturgy is extremely participative.

Following Mass every Sunday, coffee and tea are available - all are welcome.   Additionally, we have a lending library with a wealth of  Catholic and other Christian literature available to borrow.

Marshalswick Mass Centre is also a member of Churches Together in Marshalswick (CTM), which also consists of St Mary’s, St Saviour’s and St Leonard’s Anglican Churches, Marshalswick Baptist Free Church, Homewood Road United Reformed Church

The patron saint of our Mass Centre is St John Fisher who was born in Beverley, Yorkshire, and educated at the University of Cambridge.

Maryland Mass Centre

On Saturday evenings, Mass is celebrated at 5pm - this is the first Mass for Sunday in our parish

Weekday Mass is celebrated daily at the Maryland Mass Centre at 10 am every day.

The Maryland Mass Centre is at

   Maryland Convent
   Townsend Drive,
   St Albans AL3 5RF

The Maryland Mass Centre is part of the Maryland Residential Home and Convent, which is situated off Batchwood Drive in Townsend Drive where the unmetalled road starts.

Maryland is part of the parish of St Alban and Stephen and is well represented in parish life.

Members of the congregation whilst being members of most of the parish organisations, form with representatives from the convent the committee of the Friends of Maryland.

Massgoers are automatic members helping to raise funds for the residential home and the church hall.

During Lent there is an early morning Mass in the Prayer Room (at the back of the Presbytery)

Masses are also celebrated at St Albans Abbey (Fridays only at 12 noon)
