The Parish Friends Community Group does what it says on the tin. It exists
to reach out with care, love and support to all parishioners and to help
build a better community within the Parish.
We do this in a variety of ways, most notably by holding regular social events
such as our tea parties, film shows and outings as well as the new Neighbourhood
Links initiative. Our next events are a cream tea cruise on Friday, 14th
June and our summer outing to Herne Bay on Wednesday, 7th August.
We continue to co-ordinate the volunteer drivers who take fellow parishioners
to Mass and our social events.
We are looking to develop the visiting and befriending that goes on in the
Parish for those who could benefit from the company.
Recently, twenty eight of our Neighbourhood Links met to discuss how that
initiative is going. It is already bringing many people together and generating
lots of ideas about how we can build a better community within the Parish.
Some neighbourhoods are holding coffee mornings for parishioners who live
in their area. Details of these in the bulletin.
We have a list of hospitality helpers – volunteers who can help at the Parish
functions we organise and for other one-off events.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to all
those who contribute to the work of Parish Friends in any way, such as drivers,
hospitality helpers and organisers. Their work is dearly appreciated and
adds so much to our community.
The Parish Friends Community Group meets on the second Wednesday of each
month in the presbytery to co-ordinate our work. Do contact the presbytery
if you would like to be involved. We would be pleased to hear from you.
