The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC)
Refocusing the Vision - notes from a Day of Prayer, Reflection and Exploration.
The Pastoral Parish Council came together for a day in November to pray together,
reflect upon its purpose and to explore a variety of models of other PPCs.
Father Carl Tranter provided the input.
It was acknowledged that more time should be given to prayer and faith sharing
in order to better discern the pastoral requirements of the parish. The PPC
needs to work together with the established parish groups in order to accomplish
this aim.
As the PPC looked at the types/models of PPCs that have evolved since Vatican II, it was reminded of Omnes Christifideles 1973 (*this is a link to an "adequate" translation from Italian to English of the Omnes Christifideles pages from the Vatican's website) ‘the task of the PPCs is to investigate pastoral needs, ponder them prayerfully and draw practical conclusions.’
To try to address the problem of identifying the pastoral needs of the parish,
the PPC intends to focus in the coming months more on praying, and then it
will Stop, Reflect, Discern and Discriminate on what can be achieved.
The members will try to build a stronger spiritual identity, develop patient
listening skills and learn more about how to utilize our parish groups and
resources. Most important of all, the work will be grounded in prayer.
The PPC therefore asks everyone for their prayers that the Holy Spirit will guide these deliberations. |
