The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
is the process adopted by the Diocese by which interested persons gradually
become members of the Catholic Church.
Do you want to know more ....? Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the place
for you. Every year adults are welcomed into the Catholic Community through
RCIA. It is the discovery and loving processes in which conversion of
the heart brings you to Jesus Christ who is our Lord and Saviour.
“Come to me, all you who are weary
and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon your
shoulders and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. Your
souls will find rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden light.”
Matthew 11:28-30.

Conversion - a gradual process The RCIA as a rite of the church, marks stages along the
journey to full commitment in the Catholic Church. RCIA, as a journey,
describes in broad terms what this gradual commitment means.
The RCIA, also as a formation, gradually looks both to the inner
transformation of the individual as given week by week in the lectionary
of scripture readings at the Sunday eucharist (Mass), and a transformation
of the person to an active member of the local church faith family wherever
he or she wishes to belong.
The RCIA contains five main stages or phases which can be adapted
to suit each individual’s needs and the speed at which each may wish to
journey along the path; but always with the one goal in mind “to accept
and profess Jesus as our Lord and saviour”.
